The IT Systems Analyst will develop an Access database to capture and track the study stages, deliverables (including predecessor tasks and due dates), milestones, along with internal and external team members in real-time to support Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulated New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) interconnection processes per the NYISO Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT). Key accountabilities: Identifying, understanding, and improving upon the requirements of the team members with respect to the database administration system that needs to be developed. Developing data models and designing the database architecture as per the given instructions and modifying them to accommodate the system requirements. Testing the system e of the development phase and identifying bugs in the system which could result in negative user experience.
They also must ensure good performance of the database system across various platforms, terminals, and ensure interoperability with the MS Suite of products – in particular MS Outlook, the primary request receipt system. Ensure the database can work with other systems to the maximum extent possible to ensure the greatest amount of information integration for metrics and data modeling. Installing a number of security features and granting access levels as per the user privileges set by the client in order to ensure maximum protection of the database system. Coordinating with other team members and updating them on the latest updates regarding the system so that everybody is acquainted with the changes to the system. Providing support to end users after the system has been delivered. Prepare troubleshooting guides for easy referencing towards the most common difficulties that users may face.
Making necessary modifications to the system on the basis of user feedback and improving the overall usability of the system by providing regular system updates. Qualifications: Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills including designing database architectures and complex program elements. Must be well versed with the functioning of various Microsoft office-based software applications as well as general database programming concepts related to other applications. Must possess the ability to simplify complex Access programming principles so that it can be understood by the common user. Must possess good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. to perform well in a team-based environment as well as on their own, depending upon the specific requirements of the project. General knowledge of Agile or SCRUM methodology and Project Management. The ability to create a development schedule and stick to it. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or software engineering is preferred but demonstrated ability to program in MS Access with a solid and recent work history in this application will be considered in lieu of a degree. Specialized training courses undertaken in access program development or general database system programming is required. Prior experience in the field of Microsoft Access development is required SAP BI knowledge is preferred. Power Plant knowledge is a plus.
